EVENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Not for profit events
All our events are not-for-profit and any money made is put back into the SU and used for the benefit of students of Sheffield Hallam University.
Purchase of tickets
If you wish to attend an event hosted by Hallam Students' Union (HSU) you are required to purchase a ticket using our website.
By purchasing a ticket, you consent to us processing your data for the purpose of the event or ticket fulfilment and agree to us contacting you via email for the purpose of the event.
This information will be stored securely, used for these stated purposes only, using the GDPR lawful basis of legitimate interest and held for 12 months, whereby it will be securely deleted. All of your data will be utilised in agreement with HSU's privacy policies.
Image use
During an event or activity organised and hosted by HSU, images may by captured using film photography, digital photography or video to be used as promotional material on our website, social media pages and publicity materials.
In this context, the HSU informs any one taking part in HSU events and activities that they may be photographed, filmed, or videoed. Wherever possible and practical, individuals attending an event/activity where images are being captured will be made aware of this.
If you have any objections to being photographed, filmed, or videoed please alert the photographer.
Code of conduct
Any activity or event organised and/or hosted by HSU or a member of the HSU is deemed as a HSU event and any attendees or organisers are representing the HSU.
Any persons attending such and an event/activity must conduct themselves in a responsible manner at all times and ensure that their actions, or perceived actions, do not bring either Sheffield Hallam University or the Students' Union into disrepute; this includes but is not limited to poor behaviour, misuse of facilities or non-adherence of relevant HSU policies.
Any person attending an event organised and/or hosted by the HSU or a member of the Students' Union where the consumption of alcohol is permitted must ensure that they take a responsible attitude in respect of any alcohol consumed by themselves and that their consumption is within the bounds of social responsibility.
We operate a "zero tolerance" approach at HSU. Any person deemed too drunk or under the influence of drugs at an event and/or attempting to bring in alcohol or drugs on their person to an event will be refused entry and/or asked to leave. If you are refused entry for any reason, or you breach our rules and regulations, your ticket will be not refundable.
Hazardous event terms and conditions
I understand that participating in the {name of event} is a potentially hazardous activity where there is an associated risk of injury. Whilst HSU takes care to make the event as safe as possible, they cannot remove all risks and dangers to participants and accordingly I participate at my own risk.
I agree not to participate unless I am medically and physically able, and that it is my responsibility to decide whether I am medically and physically able and assume all risks associated with participation in the event.
I confirm that I will at all times follow the instructions of the instructors and will agree to conform to all safety rules in force during the event/activity.
I consent to emergency medical care and transportation in order to obtain treatment in the event of injury to me as medical professionals may deem appropriate.
Cancellations and refunds
Occasionally it may be necessary for us to cancel or reschedule an event/activity for various reasons. HSU will endeavour to notify you of any event cancellation/rescheduling in good time in advance of the scheduled event date. However, in exceptional circumstances an event may be cancelled on the day.
Cancellation of an event
You will be notified of the event cancellation by email and the respective event details will be updated on our website.
Where a paid ticketed event/activity is cancelled (and not rescheduled), you will be offered a refund of the sale price of your ticket(s).
Where this event/activity takes place over several days and one or more day(s) is/are cancelled (but NOT ALL the days constituting the event), a partial refund only may be payable corresponding to the day(s) that were cancelled.
Rescheduling of an event
If an event is rescheduled to another date you will notified of the change by email and the respective event details will be updated on our website. Your original ticket will automatically be valid for the rescheduled event.
If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event, it is important that you contact our Events Team at SUevents@shu.ac.uk at least 48 hours ahead of the rescheduled event date to notify us that that you are unable to attend.
If you do not notify us within the specified time frame it will be deemed that you are attending the rescheduled event and you will not be entitled to claim a refund.
Please note that requests for refunds will be reviewed and dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Where the event is outsourced to an external training provider, for example First Aid Training course, tickets purchased are deemed as non-refundable and refunds may only be issued if another attendee can be sourced to take up your place from a waitlist for the respective event.
How do I buy a ticket?
You will first need to create an account.
When you first sign up you will have two options, continuing with your university account or continuing with your email. As a student, selecting to continue with your university account is the recommended option.
It will allow you to verify your student status and use your university account to access the platform. This is recommended because it proves that you are a student and means you can access any tickets that are made available to SHU students only.
Do I need to bring my ticket to the event?
Please bring your ticket with you and have it ready when you arrive at the event. Your ticket can be shown on your phone if preferred.
I have a question about my ticket, who do I ask?
Feel free to use the live chat or email hello@native.fm and someone will be able to help!
