Volunteering Give it a Go - Grandma's Soup
Grange Crescent 47, S11 8AY, Sheffield
One-off volunteering opportunity with Grandma's Soup
Intergenerational soup cooking session
Join Grandma’s Soup on a mission to reduce loneliness among older adults by bringing generations together through cooking and connection. Join fun, flexible cooking sessions where students and seniors make soup together, chat, and build real connections. Open to all students.
Grandma’s Soup is a student-led initiative dedicated to tackling loneliness among older people across the UK. By organising weekly activities in cities such as London, Sheffield, and Oxford, the project brings students and older adults together to prepare and share a simple bowl of soup. These gatherings create warm, relaxed, and meaningful social spaces where generations can connect, build friendships, and enjoy fun, cozy afternoons together.
As a Cooking Day Volunteer, you will:
• Take part in 2-hour cooking sessions, helping students and older adults prepare soup together.
• Assist with light setup and clean-up before and after the session (very minimal).
• Engage in warm conversation, support simple cooking tasks, and help build a welcoming, intergenerational atmosphere.
• Share a bowl of self-made soup and contribute directly to reducing loneliness in local communities.
