Society Committee Training 2026 (September)

*** This event is exclusively for HSU Society Committee Members for the academic year 2026/27***

We are delighted to invite you to this year's Society Committee Training on 11 September 2026. This event will provide you with the key information about being a committee member including SU processes, finance basics and planning for the year ahead. We will also have free refreshments and a light lunch available during the breaks.The training is compulsory is for all societies. Society activity cannot take place until your Society has attended this training. We will also be hosting further trainings in Society Balls/Large Scale Events, High Risk Societies and Fundraising.

Important information:

• Each Committee Member that is able to attend must purchase an individual free ticket on this page.
• We will be tracking attendance for this training and at least one Committee Member from each Society must attend.  
• Please arrive promptly for 9:00am for registration. Have your ticket ready. 
• We'd recommend that you bring your laptop and/or pen and paper.

Structure:

9:00am - 09:30am: Registration at the entrance of Dorothy Fleming Lecture Theatre, Charles Street

09:30 am - 12:30 pm: Essentials Training (Including short break)

12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch break (a free light lunch will be provided)

1:30pm - 2:30 pm: High Risk Training (Compulsory for High Risk societies only) 

1:30pm - 2:30 pm: Fundraising Training (Societies who are interested in doing charity fundraising this year must attend) 

1:30pm - 2:30 pm: Society Balls and Large-Scale Events Training

Accessibility

The morning session will be held in the Dorothy Flemming Lecture Theatre in the Charles Street building. We will have a dedicated space for lunch and refreshments within Charles Street, alongside scheduled breaks throughout the day. Please disclose your dietary/allergies information in the ticket questions.
