A call to action against gender based violence
The historic Reclaim the night March is running on Monday 23rd November 2026. We are collaborating with Avis Stone, Sheffield SU's Liberation & Activities Officer and Sheffield Women's Collective.
Before the March:
We will be running banner making sessions ahead of the march. We'll provide the materials and a space for people to make their banners for the march. Timings and details TBC.
During The March:
HSU Officers and staff will gather outside HSU Own at 5:30pm. we'll walk to the start of the march together at 5:35pm.
We will then join with the rest of the marchers at Sheffield Cathedral at 5:45pm, for pre-march speeches. The march will begin at 6:15pm and the route for the march can be found here. The march will finish at 7pm at the University of Sheffield Students' Union concourse, for a one minute silent vigil at the concourse with LED candles to show respect for those who have lost their lives because of gender-based violence. The march is wheelchair friendly and there will be stewards in high-vis jackets to assist you with any concerns you may have during, before or after the March.
The post-march event:
Join us after the Reclaim the Night march in Uni Central for a cool down! Along with talks from a range of different presenters about different issues surrounding safety and showcasing the amazing work local charities and activists do. We'll also have tables for wellbeing activity on the night. Also, you can learn about the ways you can become involved in the community. This event is open to everyone and will start at 7pm till 9pm.
Please get a ticket if you would like join the march, this helps us get an idea of numbers to ensure we run the march as safely as we can.
