Memory cafes are funded through the National Lottery Community Fund, the People Keeping Well in their Community Partnership and SOAR. They are aimed at encouraging participants with early- or mid-stage dementia to socialise & network with others. Participants and carers come along, purchase a light breakfast using the cafe facilities, and then participate in an hour's activity, which varies each week, e.g., singing, dancing, arts and crafts.
This is an amazing opportunity to speak with those living with dementia and help them to socialise and have fun.
The event will be accessible via the bus with routes and timings already planned. Once numbers and places are confirmed, more information on meeting points and travel will be shared, with the option to be able to potentially car share. Please note, the society cannot cover the cost of public transport.
Benefits:
- consolidate your learning on dementia
- invaluable experience and greater understanding that is relevant to practice.
