In collaboration with Hallam SU, SYMCA (South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority) are hosting a workshop to find out exactly what Hallam students need from public transport in Sheffield and South Yorkshire, to create their 'Local Transport Plan'.
“At the Students Transport Assembly, SYMCA officers heard student testimonials about ticketing, routes, reliability, and how these impact life as a student. We heard about the experiences of older students, part-time students, disabled students, and commuters. We heard the call for a seat at the table, and we made a commitment to do more to ensure that student’s voices are heard.”
During the assembly we shared our Vision for the South Yorkshire People’s Network. With more public transport coming back into public control, we’ve got a once in a generation chance to sort out transport in South Yorkshire and build something that truly works for all of us. A real People’s Network. And now we’re looking for your help to turn it into a clear plan that will set investment priorities over the coming years. We want to hear more about your experience of our transport network as it is currently - what works, what gets in the way, and what could be better.”
This relaxed session is a chance to share with SYMCA what you think about our current transport network – including walking, cycling, buses, trams, trains, and what you think needs to change. There'll be tea, coffee and soft drinks flowing along with some snacks to keep you going throughout.
You can bring as little or as much as you like to the session - the main thing is that your voice is heard. SYMCA reps will be running the workshop and encouraging discussion through interactive activities, so that they can gather insights that will feed into the development of the South Yorkshire Local Transport Plan.
