Come with us to Edinburgh and prepare to be captivated by its ancient streets, stunning architecture, and vibrant atmosphere.
We'll be travelling via coach and staying overnight right in the heart of the city – to give you loads of time to explore and see the bustle of the city during the day and the atmospheric nightlife! Your ticket includes the cost of your travel and accommodation.
From Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, to Arthur’s Seat, Harry Potter highlights and shopping opportunities galore – there’s bound to be something you love!

Dates and Times:
The coach will depart from outside of Hallam Students’ Union (The HUBS, 6 Paternoster Row, Sheffield, S1 2QQ).
At 6am, Tuesday 11th June. Please arrive by 5:45am so we can get you checked in – we will not be able to wait for latecomers.
Please note: the drive to Edinburgh will be around 5 hours with a stop in the middle, we aim to arrive in Edinburgh by midday.
We will be dropped off Edinburgh Central Hostel (9 Haddington Place, EH7 4AL).
You will then have the rest of the day to explore Edinburgh as you wish.
On Wednesday 12th June a breakfast will be provided at the accommodation, and you will have the day to continue sightseeing around Edinburgh.
The coach will depart from outside of Edinburgh Central Hostel at 6pm on Wednesday 12th June.
Please arrive by 5:45pm so we can get you checked in – we will not be able to wait for latecomers. If you miss the coach you will be responsible for arranging your own travel back to Sheffield and this will not be reimbursed.
The coach will arrive back in Sheffield by around midnight, there will be one stop on the journey back.
Accommodation:
We will be staying at Edinburgh Central Hostel (9 Haddington Place, EH7 4AL). Upon drop off you will be able to store your bags in the hostel, check in is from 4pm. Towels and breakfast are provided.
We have a range of shared rooms booked, between 3 and 6 beds per room. We have a very small amount of twin rooms available at a slightly higher price. Please ensure you provide the names of people you wish to share with during the ticket buying process as rooms will be assigned to you and we will try our best to put groups in a room together. You will only be sharing a room with other Hallam Students.
Checkout is by 10am on Wednesday 12th – you will be able to store your luggage with the hostel by dropping it off at reception and collecting it before the coach journey back.
Accessibility:
The coach seats 50 people, if this trip is sold out you may be seated next to another student unfamiliar to you. Don't worry - everyone is friendly and we'll have some icebreakers so you can get to know your fellow travellers if you want to!
If you have any seating requirements (e.g. seat near the front due to travel sickness) then please let us know at suevents@shu.ac.uk and we will do our best to accommodate. Please feel free to bring any aids you need to make the journey more comfortable such as headphones, an eye mask if you plan to sleep, fidget toys and colouring books etc.
Please note: There are some steps up into the coach with handrails, there is space under the coach for storing mobility aids.
The coach will have a toilet onboard and there will be a stop halfway on the journey there and back.
Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel has ground floor entry with no steps, there is a lift to upper floors. All bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom that will only be available to those in your bedroom.
Bedrooms sleep 2 people if you select a twin and 3-6 people if you select shared. Several of the shared rooms include bunk beds.
You will have the option to give names of people you wish to share a room with during the ticket buying process - we will do our best to room people together but this may not always be possible.
Payment Plan:
Upon booking you will have the option to either pay in full or make use of our payment plan. This will allow you to pay 50% of the total cost at the time of booking with the remaining 50% being taken on the 17th May. Please note that by purchasing a ticket you are committing to both payments and the second payment will be taken on the 17th May even if you no longer want to attend the trip.
What's included with my ticket?
Tickets include travel via coach to Edinburgh and a return journey to Sheffield.
Departing the HUBS at 06:00am on the 11th June. Please arrive by 5:45am.
Return journey departing Edinburgh at 06:00pm on the 12th June. Please arrive by 5:45pm.
What do I need to bring?
Your ticket on your phone (this will be a QR code) and a small overnight bag.
Weather in the UK can be unpredictable, so we recommend checking thing BBC Weather or the Met Office and dressing appropriately.
Terms and Conditions
All tickets once sold are strictly non-refundable in all circumstances except where an event is cancelled by Give it a Go. Notifications of cancellations will be given on social media and email where available. If you have purchased a ticket but are unable to attend please get in touch, should a replacement be found you may be reimbursed – but this is not guaranteed.
