FANS - BHM - Food, Heritage & Home
City Campus, Howard Street, S1 2LX, Sheffield
A food and culture event celebrating Black food heritage, identity and the role food plays in connecting people to home, family and community. The session will combine food tasting, an interactive activity and guest storytelling.
Join the FANS for a special Black History Month event exploring the connections between food, culture, heritage and identity.
Following last year's successful exploration of African cuisines from different regions, this year we will take a more personal look at how food travels with people and communities. Students will have the opportunity to discover and taste a range of African and Caribbean-inspired dishes while learning about the stories, traditions and experiences behind them.
The event will include a guest speaker sharing their personal experiences of food, culture and life in the UK, followed by an interactive food activity and tasting session. We hope to create a welcoming space where students can learn from one another, celebrate culinary heritage and discover new foods and flavours.
The event is open to all FANS members, whether you have a personal connection to the cuisines being explored or simply want to learn, taste and experience something new. Please note photography and videography will be taken at the event. On the day of the event you will have the ability to opt out.
